This complex project went into the planning stages while the house was still under construction and required us to overcome some interesting obstacles. With the help of our trade partner specialists, we were able to construct a massive retaining wall to hold the hillside in place and our project was ready to move forward.
Our design team was able to create an outdoor space that can be appreciated by everyone. Whether you are love water, fire, grilling, or simply relaxing, this is the space for you. Large modern pavers in beige cream from Techo-Bloc (Blu 60) make up the paver field of the patio and walkways with the smaller version utilized around the traditional circular fire pit. Just beyond this fire pit, at the edge of the pool deck, lies a 25’ long waterfall that spills into a small pond.
Sandstone steps were used throughout the project. Some lead to the pool house while others lead to the waterslide that spills into the 18’ x 45' Family Fun style in-ground pool. A Pebble-Tec finish on the pool floor, ledge, and steps really pops and is accentuated with a 6” ceramic waterline tile. The aggregate finish of PebbleTec is resistant to natural discoloration and maintains its color and texture well beyond the standard 5-year lifespan most plaster finishes offer. The tanning ledge in the shallow end is the perfect spot to soak up the sun while enjoying the water on your toes.
For those cool Moon Township evenings, a less traditional, long rectangular fire pit sits under the edge of the patio roof. Just beyond that fire pit area is a stepping stone walkway that provides a perfect Zen feeling.
An outdoor kitchen with granite countertop and 12’ x’ 16’ Outback pergola overhead was a must for this space. A Riverwood semi-transparent stain was chosen for the pergola. The kitchen features Fire Magic’s Echelon Diamond slide-in grill with hot surface ignition, flush mount double access doors with soft-close system, slide-out trash containers, flush-mounted triple storage drawers with soft-close system, large pantry door/drawer combo, electric warming drawer, refrigerator with locking door and a built-in refreshment center.
This project goes to show that you do not need a massive backyard to create your perfect outdoor living space. With the right layout and elements, you can utilize the space you have to create your dream.
